The orthodox Medical center in honour of St. blessed Xenia of Petersburg was inaugurated in the Holy Trinity New Golutvin convent on October 6, 1997 for rendering free-of-charge medical aid to the parish, citizens of Kolomna, pilgrims, visitors from other regions, and sisters of the convent. The convent granted quarters, sisters themselves repaired and equipped consulting rooms.

Conventual nuns - experts on therapy, neuropathology, homeopathy, began to see patients Doctors themselves carry out urgent checkup: electrocardiography, express test of hemoglobin and sugar contained in blood, testing of other parameters that facilitates statement of a correct diagnosis. Patients with the most various neurological,  therapeutic, oncological diseases visit the Medical center. Doctors use different methods of treatment: herbal medicine, allopathic and homeopathic medical supplies, and, what’s the most important, conversation about Church Sacraments in which the medicine is given by God.

More than 10000 people have addressed the Centre for medical aid since its establishment.

Doctors of Kolomna, experts, and scientists from Moscow were invited to celebrations on the occasion of fifth anniversary of the Medical Centre that took place on October 2002. Thus, conference “The Orthodoxy and modern medicine” came about. This event caused big interest of the public. The Orthodox medical society of the Kolomna issues monthly newspaper – “The Medical bulletin” (22 numbers of the newspaper have already been issued). On four strips of the newspaper that enjoys love and authority among readers, one may find not only interesting medical articles, advice of psychologists, doctors of different specialties, stories about local physicians and the history of medicine, but also an explanation of Church Sacraments, recommendations of doctors-priests, stories about Orthodox relics.

Work of the Medical centre and the Society of orthodox doctors in honour of St. blessed Xenia of Petersburg has been highly estimated. In 2003 in the frame of the XIth International Christmas readings in Moscow an out conference of "Section of heads of orthodox medical societies of CIS countries” successfully took place in the Holy Trinity New Golutvin convent.
