In 1996 sisters
themselves prepared the Protecting Veil of the Holy Mother of God (Intercession)
church for sanctification, that had been in desolation and ruin for many years.
For this purpose it was necessary to disassemble and take out numerous internal
partitions constructed during the Soviet period, and the most difficult was to
clear walls and vaults of paint and whitewashing, totaling up to 12 layers which
covered picturesque wall-paintings of the XIXth
century. With the help of the parish works were finished within only 2-3 months,
and a temporary iconostas was established. To everyone's pleasure, the
Protecting Veil of the Holy Mother of God (Intercession) church was consecrated
by Metropolitan Yuvenaly and the first divine service took place on October 14,
1996. Now a carved iconostas from mahogany - a gift of B.V.Gromov, Governor of
the Moscow region, decorates the church. The project of the iconostas was worked
out by icon-painting workshop of the convent.
Divine
services are conducted in the church according to monastic regulations. On
Tuesdays water-sanctifying prayers are performed with reading of the acathistus
to Blessed Matron of Moscow. There is also an icon of this saint with a piece of
her holy relics in the church – a blessing of the Most Holy Patriarch Alexy.
